The Greater Lansing USBC Youth held their annual Junior Kings Tournament today at Riverbend in Corunna. There were 33 teams entered and the group was split into two divisions by combined average. In Division 1 the high game in qualifying for the girls was Mallory Kipliner with a 256 and she also had the high series for 4 games of 939. For the boys Victor Riojas had a 285 game and a 939 series. Gabby VanHorn (Char Lanes) and Victor Riojas (Royal Scot) came through the losers bracket to beat Tala Sawyer (City Limits) and Andrew Richard (City Limits) in the first game 490 – 415 and in the second game 476-416.
The third place finishers were Mallory Kiplinger (Char Lanes) and Jansen Stone (Char Lanes) and that match was a close game with VanHorn and Riojas beating Kiplinger and Stone with a score of 430 – 423.
In Division II Hailey White (City Limits East) had the high game for the girls with a 199 and Rachel Spragg (City Limits) had the high qualifying 4-game series of 696. Brock Pringle (City Limits) had the high game of 233 and high series of 732. Rachel Spragg (City Limits) and Brendan Brown (City Limits) came through the winner’s bracket and took took first place with an exciting finish by 403-396.
Keltsey Williams (Char Lanes) and Justin Bowmer (Char Lanes) finished second and Hailey White (City Limits East) and Reese Martindale (City Limits East) finished third. Group picture of Division II will be posted in comments (hopefully)……can’t seem to get it to post below.
